Aram Shishmanian

Aram Shishmanian was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the World Gold Council with effect January 2009.

Aram has over 30 years' experience as a management consultant. He has worked with many leading financial institutions, at board and senior executive levels, and brings extensive international experience to the role of CEO.

During 27 years at Accenture, Aram held a number of leadership roles, including Global Managing Partner of the financial markets industry practice, before becoming a senior partner.

Subsequently, he was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Resolution plc, the Senior Non-Executive Director of Victoria plc, a Non-Executive Director of a Swiss based asset-management company and several other companies. Prior to joining the World Gold Council he was an independent member of the International Executive of Hogan Lovells LLP, one of the leading global law firms. He holds a BA in Economics and an MBA.

Natalie Dempster

Managing Director, Central Banks and Public Policy

Natalie Dempster joined the World Gold Council in 2006. As the Managing Director of Central Banks and Public Policy she has overall responsibility for providing advisory and technical assistance to reserve asset managers around the world. She also leads our engagement with global regulatory authorities on all policy matters.

Prior to joining the World Gold Council, Natalie worked as an economist on the trading floor of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Group covering Western European economies. She also worked on JP Morgan's trading floor, first as a foreign exchange trader and latterly as an economist covering emerging-market fixed income debt, mainly of Eastern European countries. She holds a BSc in Economics from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London and an MBA from City University Business School (CASS), London.

Roland Wang

Managing Director, China

Roland Wang first joined the World Gold Council in 1995 and was promoted to General Manager of China in 2001. From 2012 to 2014, Roland was President and General Manager of Jingyi Gold Co. Ltd., a gold investment and jewellery company, before returning to the World Gold Council as Managing Director of China in 2015.

During his 20-year career in the gold industry, Roland has participated in the reform plan to open up the Chinese gold market. He was also actively engaged in the establishment of the Shanghai Gold Exchange.

Previously, Roland worked for J. Walter Thompson and Hill & Knowlton, as well as the International Department of the China Enterprise Management Association (CEMA), an organisation authorised by the State Economic and Planning Commission.

Roland received his bachelor’s degree from the University of International Relations in Beijing. He later received his MBA from City University of Seattle.

Somasundaram PR

Managing Director

Headquarters: Mumbai, India

Somasundaram PR joined the World Gold Council in January 2013, as Managing Director, India. Som is responsible for leading the World Gold Council's activities across the Indian gold market.

Som has over 27 years' experience across diverse industries including the FMCG and banking sectors. Prior to joining the World Gold Council, Som was the Chief Executive Officer of Lakshmi Vilas Bank, a private sector bank. Before that, he was part of Standard Chartered Bank in India for over eight years in various senior roles before taking on the role of Managing Director of Standard Chartered – STCI Capital Markets, the securities arm of Standard Chartered Bank. Previously, Som had spent over 13 years with Hindustan Unilever (HUL) in a variety of roles, as well as working at Tata Consultancy Services. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Robin Martin

Managing Director, Market Infrastructure

Robin Martin joined the World Gold Council in November 2012. Robin is responsible for leading the World Gold Council’s wholesale market reform agenda.

Before joining the World Gold Council Robin worked in management consulting for more than ten years. Most recently he was Senior Manager at Accenture in London where he led strategic projects for financial services clients. Robin focused on business strategy and operating model development for banks and asset managers.

Robin has a first class BSc. degree in Management and Computer Science from the University of Manchester and a MSc. degree in International Securities, Investment and Banking from the ICMA Centre in Reading.

Joseph Cavatoni

Managing Director, USA and ETFs

Joseph Cavatoni joined the World Gold Council in September 2016 as Managing Director, USA and ETFs. Joe is responsible for managing all market facing activities for SPDR® Gold Trust (NYSEArca: GLD) as well as leading the team to bring additional gold-backed exchange traded products to market. Mr. Cavatoni will also serve as the World Gold Trust Services Principal Executive Officer.

During his has 26 year career in the financial services industry, Joe has developed and demonstrated expertise in the areas of global capital markets, exchange traded funds, asset management, trading and business/platform development. He has also spent more than a decade working in Asia. Prior to joining the World Gold Council, Mr. Cavatoni was a managing director at BlackRock, where he was responsible for iShares Capital Markets – Americas, and was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The George Washington University and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.

Terry Heymann

Chief Financial Officer

Terry Heymann is CFO, overseeing finance and operations. Terry has broad experience across the gold supply chain. During his time with the World Gold Council, he has led the development of the Conflict-Free Gold Standard, the first industry-led scheme to set out responsible business practices in conflict-affected areas. He has also led the development of the Guidance Note on All-In costs, which has been universally adopted by the gold mining industry to improve the transparency and integrity of their financial reporting. In addition to his role as CFO, Terry also oversees the World Gold Council’s work on standard-setting for the industry.

Prior to joining the World Gold Council, Terry was a Principal at Marakon Associates, a leading strategy consultancy, where he helped clients in a number of industries on strategic issues and new product development.

John Reade

Chief Market Strategist, World Gold Council

John Reade joined the World Gold Council in February 2017 as Chief Market Strategist. John is responsible for producing strategy and developing insights on the gold market; leading our global dialogue by engaging with leading economists, academics, policy makers, fund managers and investors on gold; and leading our research team.

John has over 30 years’ experience in the gold industry and related fields, most recently as a partner and gold strategist with Paulson & Co for the past seven years. Prior to that, John worked as an precious metals strategist at UBS for 10 years; a gold equity analyst in South Africa for 5 years; and over 8 years held various positions in production and project evaluation in the gold division of Gencor, then a leading South African mining house.

John has a degree in Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines, a constituent of Imperial College, London.
