American Eagle half-quarter and tenth-ounce gold bullion coins are set to be sold again by the US Mint from today (December 14th) onwards, according to reports.

Despite this, Mineweb has reported that the US Mint director of public affairs Tom Jurkowsky has advised that once the current inventory is depleted, there will be no extra coins produced.

Mr Jurkowsky added that the allocation of these gold coins on a weekly basis will continue until at least the end of December.

The Mint will also resume the sale of the 2009 one-ounce gold bullion coins tomorrow (December 15th), with the 2010-dated American Eagle being produced from January onwards.

Sales of coins such as these had been suspended due to excess demand, which was not helped by a shortage of blanks.

Initially, the inventory of the tenth-ounce coins was depleted after less than one day of sales when they were launched on December 3rd.
