Thursday, 19th November 2009 (3369 views) The American Numismatic Association (ANA) has announced the theme for its next annual National Coin Week event.Taking place between April 18th and 24th, the week-long initiative will take on the theme of Beautiful Places: Landmarks and Mintmarks, celebrating the landmarks and scenic locations that can be found on a number of US gold coins and other numismatic pieces. It was selected by a panel of ANA members and staff and will see a road trip-style scavenger hunt take place to visit some of the places that have appeared in currency designs in the past. Meanwhile, the ANA's Edward C Rochette Money Museum will set up a travelling exhibition that will display coins and run activities for youths. Some of the landmarks that can be found on US gold coins include Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty. The US Mint's current gold coins include the 2009 Ultra High Relief, American Buffalo and First Spouse pieces.
