Monday, 16th November 2009 (2137 views) The 18-c gold World Cup continues its tour of Africa as it has been welcomed to Uganda by president Yoweri Museveni.Throughout the 70-day African tour, the gold cup is only allowed to be touched by presidents and heads of state. President Museveni said: "The most important thing is not the trophy but what it epitomises; the spirit of competition which is not confrontational," reports the Ugandan Daily Monitor. He went on to add that the trophy would motivate Ugandan youngsters to strive for global success. The trophy, weighing 6kg, was flown in from Kenya on Saturday. It will then continue its tour to Djibouti, the 37th African country on the journey, before arriving in its final destination of South Africa on December 3rd. Mr Museveni congratulated South Africa on being the first nation on the African continent to earn the right to host the World Cup. The Fifa World Cup commences on June 11th 2010 with the final being played on July 11th at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.
