Shanghai set to host gold jewellery fairThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Friday, 30th October 2009 (3165 views) An event showcasing gold jewellery from around the world is to take place in Shanghai next month. The China International Gold, Jewelry and Gem Fair will be held between November 26th and 29th at the Shanghai Exhibition Center and will display products from more than 175 exhibitors. Described as one of the most important events of its kind in eastern China, the fair will allow retailers and other traders to view and buy a range of fine jewellery. It may be seen as a particularly important exhibition in the light of expert predictions that China's consumption of gold could overtake that of India by the end of the year. India is currently the biggest consumer of the precious metal in the world, largely due to its major festival season and traditions of giving gold as gifts at weddings. Reuters recently reported that gold investors in China seem to be undeterred by the current high price of the metal.
