An Indian event showcasing a variety of gold jewellery to consumers has been a success so far, it has been claimed.

MMTC, the organiser of the Festival of Gold show in New Delhi, says that it has seen thousands of people flock to the event, which finishes today (October 1st).

Visitors to the show can see a wide range of gold chains, bangles, necklaces and unique Goan jewellery, as well as ornaments crafted from the precious metal.

The event was opened by Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Lara Dutta last week.

"I am very excited to be at MMTC's Festival of Gold. It is a great occasion to see some of the finest jewellery on display," Khan commented.

More than 100,000 jewellery pieces are on display at the show.

It was arranged in collaboration with Swiss firm PAMP, which manufactures a range of precious metal medallion bars, including those crafted from 24-c gold.
