Internship scheme 'to reward students with gold coins'The news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 1st September 2009 (5521 views) An internship programme for bachelor and master's degree students in the United States is offering gold coins to its participants in lieu of cash payments. The internships for freelance online writers are being offered by University Love Connection (ULC), a web-based dating and social networking service aimed at students. Undergraduates and postgraduates taking part in the programme receive experience of writing for a college blog, as well as internet marketing work. They also receive credit towards their degree. As the positions are unpaid, ULC founder Michael Rotkin said he wanted to give something back to reward students' hard work. He will therefore hand out gold coins to the top-performing internees. "Gold coin value is rising past the US dollar, as gold is worth more than money these days," he commented. The ULC network currently covers over 450 universities and colleges in all 50 US states. It has around 65,495 registered members.
