Tuesday, 1st September 2009 (4710 views) Visitors to the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas will soon be able to view a variety of rare gold items at an exhibition of Vietnamese art.The Arts of Ancient Viet Nam: From River Plain to Open Sea show opens on September 13th and runs until January 3rd, before moving to New York in February. Among the items on show will be a collection of fine gold jewellery and gold ornaments, with other artefacts including religious sculptures and pottery spanning the period between the first millennium BC and the 17th century, the Associated Press reports. Gold jewellery from Oc Eo, a city famed for the high quality of its gold pieces, will be among the jewels on display. The objects at the exhibition have never left Vietnam before. The country is still heavily involved in the gold jewellery sector and will host its 18th International Jewelry Fair between November 12th and 16th in Ho Chi Minh City this year.
