Omega has produced a unique gold watch to be auctioned off at an event aiming to raise money for duchenne muscular dystrophy.

According to ViaLuxe, the firm has produced a special version of its Ploprof timepiece, which was originally manufactured in the 1970s and is intended for use by divers.

It is to go on sale at the Only Watch auction, which is being held in Monaco on September 24th.

The watch is manufactured completely from 18-c gold and features a white rubber strap, while a special dial inscribed with the words '1/1 Only Watch' has also been added.

It will go up for sale without reserve at the event alongside other watches, with all the proceeds being donated to the Monegasque Association against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which carries out projects relating to the genetic disorder.

An auction of gold watches held earlier this month in New York saw one Patek Philippe timepiece sell for over $250,000 (£152,000), according to auction house Antiquorum.
