Trilliant Exploration has started operating a new 35-tonne ball mill at its Muluncay mining project in Ecuador.

Now in full operation, the mill almost doubles Trilliant's operating capacity at Muluncay to 55 tonnes per day and has passed an inspection by the Ecuadorian government.

Located in the centre of the Portovelo-Zaruma mining camp, a region which has produced in excess of 4.5 million ounces of gold since 1905, the Muluncay property has been in operation since October 2007.

William Lieberman, president of Trilliant Exploration, said: "We are pleased with the dramatic increase in our operating capacity. The addition of this new processing plant is an important step in building our operating pipeline."

Based in New York, Trilliant Exploration is a mineral exploration and development firm with a focus on gold projects in Latin America, in particular the El Oro province of Ecuador.

The firm currently processes around 55 tonnes of rock per day, with plans to add an additional 650 tonnes per day during 2009.
