Anglo Asian Mining has reported that it expects the first gold to be poured at its Azerbaijan project in early April 2009.

The miner revealed that the Gedabek gold project was nearing production and the first feed to the leach pad has now been scheduled for February this year.

"We are very pleased to be able to announce that Gedabek is nearing completion, with gold production scheduled to begin in April," said Anglo Asian chief executive Reza Vaziri.

Mr Vaziri added that the project is likely to reach completion close to schedule and "essentially within budget", with most of the construction work at Gedabek now completed.

Installation of remaining equipment, piping and electronics for the adsorption desorption refinery (ADR) is expected to finish in mid-March 2009.

Development company Anglo Asian Mining has eight copper and gold properties in three different mining areas of Azerbaijan, with the rights to three additional contract areas.
