Three gold jewellery collections featuring pendants, bangles, rings and earrings have been unveiled by jewellers Goldsmiths

Launching in time for Christmas, the high street chain describes the jewellery as handcrafted and classically designed.

It added that the pieces are "perfect for everyday luxury" and ideal for expressing love and eternity.

Goldsmiths' new radiant star collection features rings, earrings and a pendant necklace in 18-c white gold, while the Octavia collection showcases adornments - including a bangle - in yellow or white gold.

And finally the Ardesco collection also features rings, earrings and a pendant necklace in 18-c gold.

Last week, it was suggested that those struggling to find the perfect gift this Christmas should consider giving a gold handbag.

The International Herald Tribune reported that bags from Italian designer Roberto Coin may be a good option for those who are unsure whether to give jewels or a handbag this festive season.
