Lake Shore discovers gold at Casa Berardi

Friday, 31st October 2008 (327 views)

Lake Shore Gold has announced that it has discovered new gold at Casa Berardi during the first phase of its 2008 drill programme.

The mining company claims that results from the initial phase of the scheme in north-western Quebec are "encouraging".

A total of 12 diamond drill holes were excavated during the programme and included the discovery of a new gold zone, dubbed Hole CE-08-03.

At a vertical depth of 247m and located around 90m below a historic intercept of 11.11 grams per tonne of gold over 2.24m, the new zone is open "both at depth and laterally".

Tony Makuch, Lake Shore Gold president and chief executive, commented: "We are preparing to launch a second phase of the drill programme as soon as the winter weather returns and winter roads can be established as part of our ongoing exploration program."

Based in Toronto, Ontario, mineral development and exploration company Lake Shore Gold earns a 50 per cent interest in the Casa Berardi operation through a joint venture agreement with Aurizon Mines.
