Tanishq promotes gold jewellery during Dhanteras

Monday, 27th October 2008 (774 views)

Tanishq has launched a series of gold promotions and celebrations in its stores during the Hindu festival of Dhanteras this year.

According to the jewellery brand, the festival is celebrated enthusiastically in western India and its precious jewellery prices are being reduced in the region over the festive period to encourage sales.

Demand for gold jewellery in the form of necklaces, earrings, pendants and rings rises sharply during the festival season in India, which covers Diwali and Dhanteras.

Tanishq reports that heavy precious jewellery is currently in fashion and the company has produced a series of designs this year that represent beauty and purity.

Dhan means 'wealth' and the festival celebrates prosperity, with many Indians purchasing gold jewellery to welcome Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth.

Titan Industries announced recently that sales under its Tanishq and Goldplus brands, which comprise 68 per cent of the company's total sales, rose significantly during the second fiscal quarter to the end of September this year.
