Gold vein intersected at Holdsworth projectWednesday, 22nd October 2008 (284 views) Exploration firm Hawk has revealed that the initial phase of drill testing at the gold-mineralised Soocana Vein System in northern Ontario has been completed. All but one of 34 holes drilled at the company's Holdsworth property intersected what it believes to be the Soocana gold vein. A total of 2,871 samples have been sent to ActLabs in Thunder Bay to be analysed for their gold content. It comes after the firm's previous announcement that it had extended the known area of the Soocana Vein from 300m to 750m. Furthermore, a 250kg sample from four pit locations at the Black Sands zone of the project has also been sent for metallurgical testing. A magnetic survey conducted by Hawk has indicated that the spot has potential for mineralisation. Recently, Garson Gold revealed that work at the New Brittania Mine in Manitoba had emphasised the "near-surface, open-pit potential" of the site's Boundary Zone.
