British Columbia 'prolific' for bonanza gold

Thursday, 25th September 2008 (370 views)

British Columbia has been hailed as a prolific region for discovering bonanza gold grades.

The Canadian Mining Journal has highlighted several instances from the past few months where "exceptional" gold discoveries have taken place in both the northern and southern parts of the area.

Earlier this year Vancouver-based Goldcliff Resources assayed samples of up to 184 g/t Au from its Panorama Ridge project - this followed a sample of 595.55 g/t Au that was unearthed the previous year.

In addition, Romios Gold Resources is "having a large measure of success" at its Newmont Lake property after drilling an intersection of 753 g/t Au over 0.44 metres.

The same hole revealed two additional zones of 7.11 Au over 30.2 metres and 3.22 g/t Au over 4.7 metres.

British Columbia is one of the world's key mining areas as it encompasses the mineral-rich Canadian Cordillera mountain belt.
