Gold coin found in treasure hunt

Monday, 22nd September 2008 (356 views)

A gold coin was hidden in a park in Tennessee as part of a treasure hunt, it has been reported.

Cashville Gold & Silver Buyers concealed the coin under a bridge in Centennial Park as part of a city-wide promotion, according to the Tennessean.

Mandy Claiborne and John Burage eventually found the item after searching for five days and walked away with the $500 (£270) prize.

"It was funny the day we actually found it, because we'd looked in the area before, just not in the particular spot it was hidden," Ms Claiborne told the news provider.

She added that there were over 70 people looking for the treasure in the park when she discovered it.

Organisers had previously sent out clues to its whereabouts on a website, the news provider stated.

Meanwhile, Colorado Goldfields recently announced that every new subscriber to its investor newsletter would be entered into a draw to win a 24-c gold American Buffalo coin.
