Gold on sale for Malawi charity fundraiserThursday, 21st August 2008 (668 views) A charity event has been organised for Thursday night for the people of Vail, Colorado, reports the Vail Daily.People can attend the fundraiser in honour of the Help - Hope, Educate, Love, Protect - Malawi Foundation which was established by Jillian Wolstein, a resident of the town. Proceeds from the event will go toward helping fund medicinal and educational services for orphans in Malawi, including building a medical centre, a maternity clinic and a water treatment system. On sale at the event will be jewellery from the Lori Leavitt Collection, including a 14-karat gold coin with a lion engraved into it - the lion is to symbolise the strength and courage of the Malawian children. Between 20 and 100 per cent of the sale proceeds will go towards the Help Malawi Foundation. In 2006, Madonna adopted a baby boy from Malawi and has released a documentary on the orphan situation in the country, titled I Am Because We Are.
