Tuesday, 12th August 2008 (2817 views) The Indian jewellery industry has been awarding its designers with two different awards held in Mumbai, reports the National Jeweler Network.A joint evening gala was held in honour of the winners of the ABN-Amro-Solitaire Design Awards and the Vision 2008 All India Jewellery Design Competition, hosted by the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ). According to the website, the theme of the first award this year was the Alluring Seasons - Spring, Summer, Monsoon and Winter. Competitors could enter to either formal or daily wear categories for the first competition. The winner of formal wear was from Krsna with the Love Curse - Dark Winter Night piece. Chain Plus took the consolation prize in the formal category with their yellow gold piece titled Indian Summer. Winning the IIGJ award in the party wear category was Arunprett Kaur Nagi with his creation, Vogue. The IIGJ is a non-profit organisation and is a project of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council. The council is, in turn, sponsored by the ministry of commerce.
