Allied Nevada Gold: Mining has started at Hycroft

Wednesday, 30th July 2008 (474 views)

Mining has started at the Hycroft mine, reports Allied Nevada Gold.

In addition, a new refinery onsite has begun to be constructed and should be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2008

Gold production at the project will start by the fourth quarter and full production capacity is expected to be reached by 2009, said the company.

Mike Doyle, vice president of Allied Nevada Gold, said: "The construction and mining activities are going well and we are on track to achieve our goal of gold production in the fourth quarter of this year, moving into commercial production in 2009."

The Brimstone oxide open pit mine is due to be reopened as part of the Hycroft reactivation project at the site near Winnemucca, Nevada.

A Merril Crowe gold recovery plant and a "run of mine" heap leach process will help produce gold at the mine.

Allied Nevada Gold has a further 100 exploration properties in Nevada.
