Gold Rush Lives in California

Wednesday, 30th July 2008 (346 views)

Visitors to Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in October will be able to see the Californian gold rush of the 1850's brought to life.

Re-enactments of the methods used in the 19th century will take sightseers back to the sights and sounds of a bygone era, where they will be able to discover the history of where gold was first discovered.

In addition, historians who specialise in the period will be present at the event and available for people to meet.

Yubanet.com observes that the event, Coloma Gold Rush Live!, running from October 11th to 13th, will also feature historical figures such as James Marshall, who found the first gold nuggets that sparked the phenomenon.

James Marshall discovered gold at Sutter's Mill in Coloma. The Gold Rush began on January 24th 1848 and saw some 300,000 people travel to California to try and make their fortune.
