Yellow gold 'popular for fine jewellery'

Tuesday, 29th July 2008 (317 views)

Fine jewellery made from yellow gold has emerged as a popular choice for gifts for men.

A survey conducted following Father's Day this year by the Jewellery Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) - a branch of MVI Marketing - found that yellow gold was the second most popular metal for fine jewellery, Diamond Intelligence reports.

The study, which collated the responses of 2,256 people from the JCOC panel members, indicated that one-third of those questioned bought a Father's Day gift this year.

Jewellery was found to be as popular as DIY tools, coming second to clothing.

Liz Chatelain, president of MVI Marketing, says: "Fine jewellery and watches tied for second place with the innocuous power tool.

"More men seem to be requesting jewellery and watches from the females in their life and purchasing items like power tools for themselves."

Female travellers were recently advised to wear earrings that go with any outfit when they go abroad - such as simple gold hoops - to avoid taking up too much space with jewellery when packing, Sugatha Menon states for Indiasyndicate on MSN Life & Style.
