Robbers getaway with thousands of pounds worth of gold jewelleryFriday, 25th July 2008 (776 views) Violent thieves have stolen £100,000 of gold diamond jewellery, according to the Romford Recorder.A report on the newspaper's website claims a man was beaten up in Hornchurch by two robbers who then stole his car which contained three briefcases filled with the jewellery. The victim had just left Solitaires Jewellers where he worked as a sales representative for a Hatton Garden company. Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack at about 11:30 BST on Wednesday last week to come forward to help them with their enquiries. The robbers made their getaway in the victim's car which was later found abandoned. The victim was taken to Queen's Hospital in Romford where he was treated and discharged later that day. Detective constable Scott Yeoman of Havering Police Robbery Squad told the Romford Recorder: "This is a particularly audacious crime, in a busy street in broad daylight." Earlier this month, Horse and Hound reported gold equestrian jewellery had been stolen from the Great Yorkshire Show.
