New zone reports 2305.12 g/t of gold for Northern Gold

Northern Gold Mining has reported the discovery of a new zone of gold mineralisation at its Kirana project.

The zone has areas with an assay grade of up to 2305.12 g/t of gold and is located in Teck Township, Quebec.

Since 1910 the Kirkland Lake camp, which is five kilometres from the Kirana project, has produced over 24 million ounces of gold.

The Kirana project includes four patent claim blocks and 86 claim units.

Results from exploration carried out at the Matheson zone of the project over this summer include 827.6 g/t of gold, 566.68 g/t of gold, 94/7 g/t of gold and 28.05 g/t of gold.

In addition, the Hillside zone reported 40.56 g/t of gold, 27.98 g/t of gold and 5.07 g/t of gold.

Ken Rattee, vice president of exploration, said: "This new discovery is very
exciting, not only because of the nature and size of the area covered by the two newly stripped, gold-bearing structural zones but because it holds great promise for significant strike extension."

Earlier this month the company announced it had completed its 16 hole drilling programme at the Wickstead property in northern Ontario.
