New gold find at KiranaWednesday, 23rd July 2008 (361 views) Northern Gold Mining has discovered a previously unknown high-grade zone of mineralisation at its Kirana Project in Ontario.A recently acquired ground for the company, the new gold bearing zone - containing up to 2,305.12 grams per tonne of the metal - is located in the province's Teck Township, some five km north-east of the historic Kirkland Lake gold camp area. The Kirana Project incorporates a main group of 86 claim units, as well as four patent claim blocks and an extra isolated block of eight claim units. Ken Rattee, vice-president of exploration with Northern Gold Mining, described the latest discovery as "exciting". Its significance was "not only because of the nature and size of the area covered by the two newly stripped, gold-bearing structural zones but because it holds great promise for significant strike extension, being controlled by such a prominent structure", said Mr Rattee. He was speaking after the Ontario Mining Association's president, Chris Hodgson, highlighted the efforts the industry in the province has made in the fields of environmental protection, resource sharing and social responsibility.
