Gold magazine worth $10,000

Wednesday, 25th June 2008 (360 views)

The world's most expensive magazine has been created, covered with 91 grams of gold.

Kohl, a new magazine aimed at Asian women, teamed up with United Arab Emirates-based jewellery firm Damas to craft the special edition of the magazine, which is worth $10,000 (£5,000).

It took over 86 hours for the gold leaf to be applied by hand to the magazine, which retains its original content inside.

The publication, which is to be auctioned in aid of the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre in October, depicts Bollywood star Katrina Kaif.

"I am very proud and excited to be involved with this project," she commented.

"It is a wonderful idea and all for a very worthwhile cause."

Founded in 1907, Damas has over 386 sales points across the world and sells brands including Tiffany, Gucci and Faberge.

The company recently unveiled a number of new jewellery ranges designed to complement summer wardrobes.
