Gold thread fabric company launches 'most expensive clothing cloth'Thursday, 12th June 2008 (1067 views) A company that weaves gold thread into its cloth has launched the world's most expensive clothing fabric, it has emerged.Scabal unveiled the £4,000-a-metre cloth at the Bower Roebuck textile firm in Holme Valley, reports the Huddersfield Daily Examiner. Bower Roebuck's luxury fabric items include the Gold Treasure range, woven with golden thread. The new cloth is crafted from the hair of a vicuna, which is found in Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile and is related to the Alpaca and llama. Clients of the mill, which employs 70 people, have reportedly included Bill Clinton, Daniel Craig, Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson. "It is truly a connoisseur's cloth. The guy who wears it and has the ability to pay for it will know it is the finest fabric available," sales director Neil Hart told the publication. In related gold news, fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has designed a wine bottle with an animal-print label and a gold corkscrew, reports Bloomberg.
