The Great Basin Gold company has announced the May 2008 milling results for its production at Hollister Mine in Nevada.

Results realised a net revenue of $3.9 million (£1.9 million), which was generated from 5,000 tons of ore with a silver head grade of 9.5 ounces per ton and a gold head grade of 1.2 ounces per ton.

There was 5,484 contained ounces of gold, with 84.7 per cent recovered ounces.

President and chief executive officer, Ferdo Dippenaar, said: "As in the case of developing mines the head grades at Hollister are expected to vary during the build up phase, but current results continue to confirm the prospective nature of this ore body."

Underground production began on the Gwenivere and Clementine veins following the construction of a regulatory-required Alimak and commissioning of the escape-way in May 2008.

At Hollister, the Great Basin group is predicted to produce 80,000 to 100,000 ounces at a cost of $400 per ounce for 2008, according to international mining magazine, Mineweb.
