A drilling programme at Mano River Resources' New Liberty gold project in Liberia has discovered a gold zone, according to a Forbes report.

The company announced the results and described them as "highly encouraging".

The exploration and development company also reported two of the six holes it had been drilling to a minus 200 metre level showed some of the best intersections they had ever achieved at the plant.

The company is planning a new drilling programme there to provide definition for resource modelling and to look into underground mining methods as part of a new feasibility study, expected to be completed next year.

And it has also announced, following an in-depth review of their exploration database by Mineral Corporation, a South African company, further gold targets have been defined.
Mano River has been working to find gold in Liberia since an exploration programme in the 1997-8 field season.

It has also carried out diamond drilling programmes there.
