Cajamarca to be 'gold jewellery hub'Monday, 9th June 2008 (623 views) Cajamarca has been cited as a future leading jewellery producing hub.According to online news resource Fibre2Fashion, congresswomen Cecilia Chacon has noted the Peruvian region's potential. Speaking about a recent seminar entitled Gold and Jewellery. Ms Chacon said: "The event aimed to show the great jewellery industry of Cajamarca, as an income-generating activity that would contribute to the sustainable development of the city." In addition, the chairman of the Committee on Energy and Mines, the organisation which hosted the seminar, said the event had thrown light on the "vast potential" of the area's jewellery sector and what needs to be done to take it to the global market. The news provider adds that those who attended the ceremony were able to observe market trends and the preferences of potential buyers. In related news, the Guardian reports that despite rising gold prices the precious metal will still see strong imports in Dubai due to high demand.
