High-grade gold drilled in MexicoWednesday, 4th June 2008 (612 views) Drilling in the Santa Edwiges and Promontorio zones of the Cusi property in northern Mexico has intercepted high-grade gold mineralisation, the company carrying out the work has said.Dia Bras Exploration said the aim of the ongoing programme is to expand and update the gold resources of the two sectors, while targeting potential new corridors of mineralisation identified by its 2007 mapping programme. To support this work, the company is also conducting underground drilling operations to follow-up on gold-bearing structures exposed by surface exploration. Since the start of the drilling campaign in April 2008, more than 2,142 metres of surface drilling and 740 metres of underground exploration have been completed. According to the company's results, the most significant gold values have been intercepted by subterranean drilling in the Santa Edwiges zone, which encountered high-grade gold ore shoots. Grades recorded in this area include 14.05 g/t gold over one metre, 4.67 g/t over 1.5 metres and 1.3 g/t gold over 1.5 metres. Precious metal mining in the Cusi region dates back to 1687, when the San Miguel and La Candelaria mines were discovered by Spanish explorer Antonio Rodríguez. Dias Bras acquired the property in 2006.
