Goldeye issues Chilean gold exploration results

Friday, 30th May 2008 (463 views)

Canadian company Goldeye Explorations has released the results of its trench sampling programme at the Sonia mineral property in Chile, South America.

The firm said it excavated a 3,992-metre long area for the work, with 209 trenches completed by the end of April 2008. A total of 759 samples were collected.

Previous mapping and sampling work on the site had identified an "extensive vein swarm" comprising 35 different epithermal structures. Sampling was concentrated on mineralisation-bearing veins in four corridors - designated as Sonia, Paso del Inca, Condor and Sobrante-Mina Morada.

Assays returned from the property include gold values of 1.85 g/t gold over a true width of 2.1 metres, 1.77 g/t gold over 2.6 metres and 1.68 g/t gold over 1.1 metres.

Other results included in the programme's highlights were graded at 1.59 g/t gold over 0.6 metres, 1.38 g/t gold over 1.1 metres and 0.85 g/t gold over 1.0 metres.

Based on the sampling results, Goldeye intends to explore Sonia's vein systems further in order to define zones of high-grade mineralisation for drilling.

In addition to its property in Chile, Goldeye is also involved in exploration and development projects in Ontario and British Columbia, Canada.
