Diana's gold gift up for auctionTuesday, 27th May 2008 (564 views) A gold necklace given by Diana, Princess of Wales, to her medium is set to be auctioned next month. The 18-carat gold necklace is to go under the hammer at Christie's in South Kensington on June 4th, reports the Press Association. In memory of the late royal, a proportion of the proceeds from the sale - expected to be worth up to £6,000 - is to be donated to hospices. The necklace is accompanied with a letter, written by the princess's hand and dated weeks before her death. "Dearest Rita, this necklace was made for you and comes with so much love to a very special lady with an extraordinary gift. From x Diana x," the document reads. The medium, Rita Rogers, told the news organisation that Diana was not sentimental about possessions, noting that she was still reluctant to sell it. A Diana, Princess of Wales gold coin is available from the Westminster Collection, struck in 24-carat gold and featuring a portrait of the princess on one side.
