Special gold coins launched for festivalThursday, 8th May 2008 (298 views) Special gold coins have been launched in India in time for the religious festival, Akshaya Tritiya, which is Sanskrit for 'never diminishing'.The May 7th-8th festival is considered to be a propitious day for purchasing gold and silver. To celebrate the holiday, Prince Jewellery has launched special gold coins to complement its diamond offerings. This week the company is giving away gold coins free to customers who spend Rs 7,500 (£92) or more on jewellery. Earlier this month, the jewellers promised that if anyone ordered jewellery before the holiday but found the gold rate had dropped on Akshaya Tritiya day, they can have the products for the lower price. Meanwhile, the Prince Corporate office is featuring a display counter dedicated to bullion and coins to mark Akshaya Tritiya day. According to the Economic Times, gold experts have been forecasting a 35 to 40 per cent growth in sales of the precious yellow metal compared with last year's festival.
