Korean artist displays gold jewelleryFriday, 25th April 2008 (458 views) A Korean artist who works both in Korea and the UK will soon display gold jewellery as part of her first ever solo exhibition, according to reports.Kim Jung-ji will show her work at the Gana Art Space in Seoul's Insa-dong under the title Unmoulded. Brooches, necklaces, bracelets and rings in both sterling silver and gold will form the display, with the artist outlining her special interest in jewellery. "To me, jewellery is something between sculpture and garment. My pieces are functional as they are intended for bodily ornament, yet they may also be seen as sculptural pieces," she said in the exhibition catalogue, according to the Korea Times. While this is Kim Jung-ji's first solo exhibition, she has previously shown pieces as part of group exhibitions in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Munich and New York, the newspaper notes. The gallery was opened in the early 1980s and has hosted some 300 hundred exhibitions, according to AsiaRooms.com.
