Gold facial 'evokes James Bond'Thursday, 27th March 2008 (1086 views) The new gold facial from Luxe has been compared to the James Bond films by one publication.According to the Daily Mail, the treatment - which involves 80-minutes of massage with gold leaf - evokes the iconic imagery of Sean Connery flick Goldfinger. Pioneered by beauty firm UMO, the treatment claims to make skin firmer, brighter and suppler. The pampering session is cited by the publication as indicative of a trend for more luxurious treatments, such as La Prairie's sturgeon egg-using products, admired by Angelina Jolie among other luminaries. However, Luxe's facial is different to that given to Bond girl Jill Masterson, the newspaper points out. The spy was "killed by being painted gold" - subsequently revealed to be medically implausible - in the film. Directed by Guy Hamilton, the film also starred Honor Blackman and was released in 1964.
