Tawhid Abdullah, managing director of Damas, asserted that the company's pieces can be "hailed as the haute couture accent to a womans wardrobe". With its signature handcrafted 18 carat gold crochet - derived from ancient weaving technology - the company offers pieces both delicate and dramatic. The Cipria collection is inspired by Marie Antionette, the last Queen of France, evoking her extravagant tastes through gold ribbons styled into bows. Meanwhile, the DiVa range pays homage to 1940s movie stars Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich, with grand gold necklaces and precious buckles. Marie Antoinette was the subject of a recent film directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Kirsten Dunst in the title role.
