Unigold issues drilling results from Dominican RepublicThursday, 14th February 2008 (1578 views) Canadian mining firm Unigold has announced the latest findings from its drilling programme at the Los Candelones project in the Dominican Republic. They include an intersection of three metres of 5.5 g/t gold at the site, which field tests revealed to have the suphidation signature and vuggy quartz vein system associated with some high-grade gold deposits. The latest results are part of an on-going exploration of the site, where to date 103 holes have been drilled with a total depth of around 13,200 metres. With the new data, Unigold has demonstrated a continuation of the site's 25 to 30-metre thick gold core of epithermal mineralisation, which contains grades ranging from 1.0 g/t to 4.4 g/t gold. This core is enclosed within a 100 metre-wide "halo" of lower grade gold, the company said. Los Candelones forms part of the Neita gold project, a previously unexplored area that covers 22,616 hectares in the Domincan Republic's north-west.
