People in Alaska during the solstice may wish to explore the area's mining heritage, a new report suggests.

The Langley Times has listed Gold Fever as one of 24 ways to get the most out of the Alaska solstice, during which daylight lasts almost 24 hours.

Such a long day means "it's hard to know when to slow down", the report notes, offering an idea for how each hour of this extra-long day can be spent at Denali National Park.

Gold Fever invites tourists and residents to take in an historical recreation of a gold mining camp at the turn of the century, giving participants the chance to try prospecting for the precious metal.

Among the other gold-themed activities on the list of possible solstice pastimes is a visit to Sourdough Studies, where it is possible to be snapped as a miner, "saloon gal" or mountaineer.

Meanwhile, a ticket to the Yukon gold rush musical Cabin Night Dinner Theatre includes a meal.

Wildlife at Denali National Park includes grizzly bears, caribou, moose and wolves, while birds traverse the landscape during the summer.
