Wednesday, 19th December 2007 (1200 views)

Gold towns in Brazil have been named as one of the country's most enduring attractions in a new list of the best Latin American hotspots.

Travellers considering a trip to the hot and heady region in 2008 have been advised that Brazil is one of the best places to visit due to its gold-based history by E-travel Blackboard.

Among the most enticing attractions of the nation was named its Minas Gerais gold towns, said to be set to drive a new tourism rush to the interior - "really set to catch the eye in 2008", according to the news provider.

Gold towns could be combined with wildlife spotting in the Pantanal and the southern Serra Geral mountains for a whistlestop tour of Brazil's most forward-looking holiday spots.

Other Latin American destinations in the top-ten included Belize, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

Gold miners operating in Brazil include Kinross Gold, which recently told Reuters it is seeking to expand its presence in the country.
