Dubai academy covers "all aspects" of goldTuesday, 18th December 2007 (2027 views) A new academy in Dubai is set to offer a thorough education in the gold and precious metal industry, it has emerged.The new initiative being pioneered by the ARY group, based in the United Arab Emirates, is set to open in the new year with a programme of training in "all aspects" of the gold industry and related trades. Certificates and diploma courses are to be offered in a range of areas including design, manufacture, assaying and management at the ARY Academy of Gems & Jewellery. Sarwat Abdul Razzak, the new academy's chief executive, noted the growth that the gems and jewellery trade has witnessed recently in the region. "It is imperative that such a growing industry gets the support of qualified and trained personnel in all aspects of the trade," he said. DubaiCityGuide.com reports that more than two-thirds of Dubai's population buys gold at least once a year, with almost half of sales of the precious metal being gifts.
