A trenching programme carried out on Alaska's Coffee Dome gold project has intersected veins containing high-grade gold mineralisation, according to International Tower Hill Mines.

The operation, which was carried out as part of an exploration programme on the site, found exposed veins containing mineralisation grading up to 168 grams of gold per tonne.

In addition, a soil survey on the Coffee Dome project site found evidence of two additional gold anomalies, which are thought to represent a "significant gold system" measuring three kilometres in width and one kilometre in length.

According to International Tower Hill Mines, the soil anomaly is consistent with a similar bulk deposit, Fort Knox, which is located 15 kilometres west of the Coffee Dome project and is thought to be the largest gold mine in Alaska.

International Tower Hill Mines currently owns a portfolio of gold and other base metal exploration projects located in Nevada and Alaska.
