Gold has been associated with love and romance since the first wedding rings were crafted from the precious metal.

However, a new film puts an original twist on the link between gold and relationships, exploring the trials and tribulations of a treasure hunter as he attempts to match his love of gold with his desire to sustain a happy relationship.

Fool's Gold stars Matthew McConaughey as the starry-eyed treasure hunter Ben Finn Finnegan and Kate Hudson as his estranged wife, reports the Internet Movie Database.

Ben loses Kate due to his obsession with finding the 18th century Queens Dowry, a treasure hunter's dream comprising 40 chests of gold treasure.

As Kate starts a new life with a job onboard a yacht - belonging to billionaire Donald Sutherland - Finn discovers a clue he believes will take him to the treasure and convinces Sutherland's character and Kate to chase the treasure with him.

Fool's Gold is released in 2008.
