Friday, 26th October 2007 (1794 views) A jewellery, art and antique exhibit and sale in Philadelphia will let visitors experience a variety of world cultures through the exploration of craftsmanship techniques, according to the Burlington County Times. The Treasures Show and Sale, to be held at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will display works reflecting the cultural and artistic traditions of Africa, Asia, Oceana and the Americas. According to the newspaper, the exhibition and sale is complimentary to the museum's current River of Gold exhibit, which features 120 gold objects from pre-Columbian South America, dating back more than 1,000 years. Susan Catherwood, founding chairwoman of the Treasures Show and Sale, said that the exhibit is Philadelphia's only display of global traditional fine arts and visitors will be impressed and educated by the jewellery and textiles. "This allows for a better understanding and appreciation of the history and traditions of people from around the world," she told the Burlington County Times. According to the museum, River of Gold is set to run until mid-December.
