Tuesday, 23rd October 2007 (1856 views) A gold jewellery ensemble is to be auctioned off to mark the tenth anniversary of charity the Shark Trust, it has been reported.In Cricklewood on Saturday November 17th, the Mermaid's Purse Ensemble- featuring an 18-carat yellow gold pendant and a set of 18-carat yellow gold earrings are to be auctioned off at the Crown Moran Hotel in Cricklewood. Designed by Peter Barbaraovich of Reef Jewellery, the set's auction is intended to raise money and awareness of the plight of sharks. The Shark Trust was established in 1997 and is a UK registered marine charity dedicated to the conservation, management and study of sharks, skates, rays and chimeara. "With the extinction clock minutes from midnight and ticking for many shark species, we wanted to design a heritage piece that would represent the fragile existence of our shark population. "The resulting 18-carat yellow gold Mermaid's Purse pendant seemed fitting for the occasion," commented Barbaraovich.
