Thursday, 18th October 2007 (1802 views) A convention in Mumbai in November is set to examine India's gold business.Set to be held on November 2nd at Hotel Taj Mahal in the Apollo Bunder area of Mumbai, the event is said to be of interest to sector professionals including mining practitioners, jewellers and environmentalists. Entitled the International Diamond and Gold Convention, the event is to involve discussion of regulatory issues, global trends, the partnership between government and industry and networking opportunities. According to the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, key areas timetabled for discussion will include the gems and jewellery market in India, consumer confidence issues and the exploitation of opportunities in gold refining. "India has the largest and the best artisan force for designing and crafting jewellery in the world," the association notes. In related news, the Bureau of Indian Standards is set to make the hallmarking of all gold sold in the country mandatory from the beginning of 2008.
