Gold jewellery donations support Golden Hour Challenge Week

Friday, 28th September 2007 (1205 views)

A charity shop in Caernarfon has raised £850 for Wales Air Ambulance after a local woman donated an unwanted gold ring to support the cause during its annual fundraising campaign, Rotorhub.com has reported.

As part of Wales Air Ambulance's Golden Hour Challenge Week, supporters are encouraged to donate their old gold jewellery, which is directly exchanged to raise funds for the air ambulance service.

The golden hour is the first 60 minutes after a person experiences a multi-system trauma, such as severe internal bleeding.

Many medical experts believe that if proper care is administered within this timeframe, the victim will have a significantly improved chance of survival and recovery.

The helicopter industry website said that this year, volunteers at the ten Wales Air Ambulance charity shop locations are sporting gold wigs, costumes and jewellery all week in honour of the gold-themed fundraising event.

The 2007 Golden Hour Challenge Week is taking place from September 24th to 30th.
