The wedding gown worn by Diana, Princess of Wales at her wedding to Prince Charles has arrived in Sydney, Australia in preparation for a museum exhibition chronicling her life.

Princess Diana's gown, threaded with pure gold, was packaged in a hermetically-sealed crate for its journey to Australia, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The gown took between four and five months to complete, art handlers who had travelled with it to Sydney told the newspaper.

Woven from 10,000 threads, the gown also features a diamond-studded 18-carat gold horseshoe to hold the princess's "something blue" in place – a tiny blue bow.

Diana's gold, suede and lace shoes, as well as her wedding veil, will also be included in the display, which marks the first time that the Althorp Estate exhibition has travelled to Australia.

None of the wedding garments have been worn since July 29, 1981, the date of the famed royal wedding

The Diana: A Celebration exhibit is scheduled to run at the Powerhouse Museum in Darling Harbour from September 29th of this year until May 4th 2008.
