After the gold rushWednesday, 19th September 2007 (1127 views) A new exhibition in the San Joaquin County Historical Museum explores the hidden side of the California gold rush.Gold Fever! The Untold Stories of California's Gold Rush exhibits a number of images and documents from the era, as well as detailing the events that defined this important period of gold mining history. Beginning with the discovery of gold in the American River, the display explored the rush to the gold fields from all over the US, as well as the experience of vigilante justice, life in the gold camps, commerce and farming during the rush and the way in which this period has influenced California's history. Established in 1966, the San Joaquin Historical Museum can be found on the outskirts of Lodi in Calfornia. Spanning more than 40,000 square-feet of exhibition space, the facility states that its collections number 50,000, all illustrating the area's development over the years. Set to run until mid-November, the exhibit is located in the Helen Weber Kennedy Gallery section of the museum.
