Reconstruction of Foley mine complete

Tuesday, 28th August 2007 (1102 views)

Q-Gold Resources has announced that the reconstruction of the Foley Gold Mine in Ontario is complete.

Paul Whelan Mining Contractors is now installing a submersible pump and permanent steel piping in the mine, to facilitate the pumping out of the water that has flooded the mine since 1930.

This is to enable underground exploration of the site, Q-Gold Resources explained.

Environmental consulting services relating to the mine's rehabilitation are being provided by Trow Associates, the company added.

During the 1890s, Foley Gold produced more than 5,000 ounces of gold, before fire resulted in the destruction of the mine.

Meanwhile, the gold company also announced that exploration has commenced on the new Rainy River District tract, with reverse circulation drilling intended to be conducted this autumn with the aim of identifying potential gold-bearing targets.

Q-Gold owns over 32,000 contiguous acres of Archean Greenstone Belt gold mining claims and leases at the historic gold camp at Ontario's Mine Centre.
